July Events at The Lauter Tun Craft Beer Bar

I hope everyone has a wonderful first week of July and a great Fourth!  Be safe, have fun, and drink a great beer for me!  Make sure to come out to The LT for some pre and post 4th libations.

This week we have some great events and some great beers coming on tap.

Kelsey Nord
Friday 07/06, 8:30 pm - 11:30 pm
Bringing a fresh face to the Indie market, Kelsey Nord uses her dynamic vocal ability to deliver her heart and soul. Whether acoustic or accompanied by her band, Nord's vocals will leave you wanting more. Releasing her debut EP "Let Go" in October of 2010 she never realized what big things would come next! Early spring 2011 she got the opportunity to sing with country music’s #1 recording artist Jerrod Niemann in Lincoln Nebraska. Later that same year Kelsey was invited to audition for America's Got Talent in Houston Texas and received a “Yes" by all three judges advancing to the Vegas round! She was placed in the judges favorite category in the top 3 female vocalist and later that summer made her national television debut as they showed clips of her Vegas interviews and auditions on the show! Keep your eyes peeled for this career on the rise.

Joe Genovesi
Wednesday 07/11, 8:30 pm - 11:30 pm
To complete the "Pre-prohibition" evening, legendary saxophonist and clarinetist Joe Genovesi will grace our stage for an absolutely unforgettable evening. You absolutely MUST NOT miss this rare performance and retro party!

Acoustic Gangster (feat. Brian Alexander)
Thursday 07/12, 8:30 pm - 11:30 pm
"The Acoustic Gangster" is a nickname of the singer/songwriter Brian Alexander. It reflects his seamless approach towards audiences (swag), his relentless work ethic (hustle), and his troubled past (street cred). At the age of 3 he wrote his first full length symphony. It wasn't very good.

Mark Irvin & Friends
Friday 07/13, 8:30 pm - 11:30 pm
An incredible singer/songwriter, Mark is joined by other local greats to give you a night of hits from yesterday and today. And for you original buffs, you'l definitely be treated to Mark's catchy originals!

Ron E. Beck (former 'Tower of Power' drummer)
Saturday 07/14, 8:30 pm - 11:30 pm
From 1975 through 1978, Ron E. Beck toured and recorded with the highly acclaimed group Tower of Power. He has also performed and recorded with Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., Bobby Womack, John Lee Hooker, Bell & James, Robbie Nevil, Sylvester and 2 Tons of Fun, Bill Withers, Clifford Coulter, Lydia Pense, Sista Monica, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Fred Wesley, Chester Thompson, and Merl Saunders to name a few. Ron E. Beck was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. At age eighteen, after reaching the top of the Omaha music scene Beck decided to go west along with his twin brother Donnie. The brothers followed their mentors Buddie Miles, Herbie Rich, and Stemsie Hunter to the West Coast, all of whom had just joined Michael Bloomfield's Electric Flag. Since the 70’s Beck has been an established and welcomed contributor to the Northern California music scene. Ron E. will be joined by Mitch Towne on organ, Andrew Bailie on guitar, Craig Balderston on bass with Brad Cordle a guest vocalist at the show as well.

Nebraska Brewing Company's EOS Hefeweizen will be back on tap after a brief hiatus.  This delicious German-style wheat beer has wonderful notes of banana and clove, bubble gum and vanilla.  An award winning beer, considered one of the best in the country.

The much anticipated Boulevard Saison Brett is now on tap.  The Saison Brett is based on BLVD's Tank 7  but is assertively dry hopped, then bottle conditioned with various yeasts, including Brettanomyces, a wild strain that imparts a distinctive earthy quality. Crabtree's Berliner Weisse is a Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal winner and is on tap now.  This beer is a classic German style sour ale.  We have been serving these beers with a shot of liquor or liqueur of your choice.  A sweet liqueur really helps to balance out the sourness of the beer.  We had all kinds of experimentation this weekend with Blackberry Brandy (my favorite), Midori (which makes it look nice and green), Amaretto (much like an amaretto sour) and more.  Try your hand at a beer cocktail next time you come in.  Speaking of beer cocktails, our server Destini started pushing some great little beer cocktail shots and man are they good!  Pick your favorite stout with a vanilla vodka or chocolate vodka.  Try a porter with some bourbon.  The sour beer with a liqueur or whisky.  An IPA with Gin is fantastic!!!!  A wheat with a citrus vodka or rum.

We have in waiting a nice Lips of Faith series beer from New Belgium called Lost Abbey Brett Beer.  It is a collaboration between NB and Lost Abbey.  It is a 'wild ale' meaning it is fermented with various wild yeasts including brettanomyces which can give a unique tartness and start to sour the beer (on purpose).  Very unique and very tasty beer.  You may be surprised how very drinkable this is!
